European Wagering Services Press Release
European Wagering Services is pleased to announce that it will hold its first harness race meeting at Cal Expo racetrack in Sacramento, California on Friday November 2nd 2012. Cal Expo will race every Friday and Saturday night from the opening fixture through to December 22nd 2012 and then every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening through to May 2013.
Ed Comins, Pari-mutuel Operations Director of Webis Holdings plc said “We are very pleased with our association with Cal Expo and are extremely encouraged by the level of interest in the recommencement of harness racing at Cal Expo. We already have enough horses to put on a quality two-day a week program with fully competitive fields. We are also receiving strong interest from Eastern, Midwestern and Canadian trainers to our new horse incentive plan which will enable us to go to three full and competitive days of racing beginning on December 26th. We are expecting purses to be in excess of $41,500 per race night.”
The opening two days on November 2nd and 3rd also coincide with the two day Breeders’ Cup Championships at Santa Anita, California. Breeders’ Cup races will be simulcast live at the track and in addition EWS is pleased to contract with Breeders’ Cup for the fifth year in succession for co-mingled wagering across its platform into the Championship races.
