WatchandWager.com LLC announces new season Cal Expo racing is approved by California

The board of Webis, the Group specialising in the provision of sports betting, pool wagering and the owners of San Francisco-based WatchandWager.com LLC (“WatchandWager”), is pleased to announce that its leased Californian harness track, Cal Expo, has been approved by the California Horse Racing Board (CHRB) for its next meeting which begins at the Sacramento venue on 5 October 2013.

Since taking over the lease of Cal Expo in late 2012, WatchandWager.com, through its Californian-based management agency Golden Bear LLC, has increased total wagering across all sources by 27%, compared with the corresponding meeting the previous year. Ed Comins, Pari-Mutuel Operations Director at Webis said: “We are particularly pleased with the number of horsemen committing their stables to the forthcoming meeting. It’s good news for the entire Californian horse racing industry.”

The Cal Expo meeting will now be screened across all the major US TV racing networks. As a result, WatchandWager is exploring cross-marketing and branding opportunities between Cal Expo and its wholly-owned Advanced Deposit Wagering (ADW) business at www.watchandwager.com. The recent CHRB approval for a multi-jurisdictional ADW license will allow Californian residents to begin wagering on the platform from 6 September 2013.

Legendary U.S. TV host and racing broadcaster Gary Seibel, a 2011 inductee to the Communicators Corner of the Hall of Fame, has been recruited as the track announcer for the entire Cal Expo meeting.
