In November 2007, the company changed its name from betinternet.com plc to Webis Holdings plc to more accurately reflect its role within the group.

In 2012, EWS moved its central operation to San Francisco, California, where it has established an office.
Webis Holdings holds a betting license for both betinternet.com and EWS in the Isle of Man. betinternet.com also operates under a licence issued in the Netherlands Antilles. EWS holds a pari-mutuel licence issued by the North Dakota Racing Commission in the US.
